| Dear YouTube, I think your platform is incredible and has done immeasurable good for the world. You have continuously innovated features, both user-facing and via API, that empower creators. That said, there is an unfortunate bureaucracy that seems to have taken root that leads to important fixes & improvements that should take hours instead take months. I have worked with many companies (big and small, including X) that get things of the nature I'll describe below done on the same day (minutes not months). This is not about me as one guy who posts on YouTube, this is about all creators. Please unlock your brilliant engineers to build awesome stuff and to get stuff done. The world will thank you for it. I'm posting here about 2 specific issues, but this applies more generally. I have recently interviewed world leaders in multiple languages. The following 2 simple requests I made have been unaddressed: 1. I have made a request to swap a small translation correction on my interview with President Zelenskyy to better convey his meaning on a crucial point (see link in comment for details). This is normally a 1 day max operation and for conversations of geopolitical importance should probably be a 1 hour operation. Instead, it has been taking days with polite emails that say "we're working on it". 2. Additionally, for months, I've been asking for a small feature about mixed-language audio to have an audio track label of "Original Mixed-Language" help reduce confusion for YouTube consumers of multi-language content. This is a trivial feature. I know YouTube codebase is complicated, but I guarantee you I can implement this in 1 day max. And I'm sure YouTube's brilliant engineers can do it much faster. Multi-language audio (MLA) is an incredible feature. It has the chance to help break down the barriers of understanding between people that language creates. Please do better 🙏 You have an incredible platform, and an incredible group of engineers. Don't get in their way. Let's build epic stuff together! | See Telegram post for more details on translation fix I reference above: https://t.co/JpmwjXGebm In short, I fixed the translation of "Ми били по руках всіх" to "We cracked down hard on everyone". Before that the translation was more literal & incorrectly conveyed the meaning: "We slapped everyone on the wrist." We worked extremely hard to translate as accurately as possible a mixed-language conversation into 3 languages. The amount of work that went into the translation & dubbing effort is immense.
